Rafting on the Wild and Scenic Merced River is a great addition to any springtime trip to Yosemite National Park. With roller coaster-like Class IV rapids, this free flowing river is the perfect introduction to more advanced whitewater rafting.

The Class IV North Fork of the American River is an hour east of Sacramento and runs in the springtime when the snow melts. It is an excellent choice for either adventurous first time rafters, or those who have tried Class III rafting and want to try something more challenging.

The Class III South Fork is California's most popular run. It is perfect for beginners, families, corporate groups, bachelor(ette) parties, and anyone seeking a fun adventure. Located outside Sacramento in the heart of California's gold country, the American River is easily accessible from the San Francisco Bay Area and Lake Tahoe.
