Underwaterimages

Basking sharks feeding off Cornwall. UK. A total of 30 were spotted off Cornwall at the beginning of June 2009.

This is a test film using a Royal Lens Platinum 0.2x and royal-lens.com on the Sony HC1 camera. No awards to be had for my test!
The lens was not designed to be used underwater, but behind a wide angle port it gives an amazing 180 degree view, wider than any maufacturers on the market produce.

Problems using this lens are as follows:

I had a few technical problems using this lens. The lens is silver, and needs to be painted black, as silver reflections can be seen in the glass port.
Next was the extreme vinyetting. I must Zoom in a bit more than I did to remover the cut-off. I did zoom in a bit, but still had problems. This was not seen in the viewfinder when filming..
The lens was designed for extreme sports, but It was the perfect lens underwater.
More films to follow. This is a great lens, and I will be using it more on projects this summer..

A simple homemade housing made from plexiglass for the Sony Tg3, TG5 and TG7. I have adapted it to use a wide angle lens.
The camera is designed to be mounted on a underwater scooter, speargun, canoe or even a surfboard. These test are in progress soon.
