Paripurnata is a halyway home for women who are mentally challenged. In Indian society such women are routinely cast aside and end up on the street. Becoming either prostitutes or beggars, they invariably end up in jail. Paripurnata seeks to break this pattern by treating and then educating the women so that they can live an independent life.
Closed Loop Films in India
I went to Kolkata, West Bengal in January 2007 and January 2008. In the first trip I filmed 5 humanitarian aid projects funded by The Shadhika Foundation (shadhika.com), which focuses on the needs of women and children in the state of West Bengal. In 2008 I went back and filmed a full-length documentary on one of the projects I had seen in 2007. The videos in this channel are from the 2007 trip.
