Assigning letter grades in the Moodle gradebook

This screencast tutorial describes how to assign letter grades to grade items in the Moodle gradebook for Moodle version 1.9.7. There are two basic approaches: enter numerical scores for a grade item but set the grade item to display the corresponding letter grade based on a number to letter grade conversion table; or define a scale that includes the letter grades that you want to display and set the grade item to use that scale instead of entering a value.
