A general overview of the Military Working Dog program at Lackland Air Force Base. Interviews with dog breeders, behaviorists, and trainers, give us an insight into the complex relationship between the human and canine species when collaborating during wartime.

Sergeant (Sgt) Tyler Budge, 24, from Harper, Oregon, a tall, lanky soldier, with dog Baco, a long legged German shorthaired pointer who matches his demeanor, grew up on a farm with dogs, and has eight back home. He is in awe of their intelligence, and describes his decision to become a dog handler as a turning point during his first deployment in infantry when his unit was saved from a bomb buried underground in a water pipe line. The dog leading their patrol stopped at the site and as per training, sat quietly by the lethal spot.
