An exclusive extract from my new movie "Highlights 2009". The performance of the Turkish-Stars during Airpower 09 in Zeltweg, Austria.

Military display teams have a long tradition in Turkey. The first official aerobatic exercises were performed at the air force training academy as early as 1926. The Turkish Air Force put together its first aerobatics team in 1952, and five further teams followed up until 1971. The seventh team, the Turkish Stars, debuted in 1993 and has performed around 250 shows to date. The eleven pilots stationed in Konya fly eight Northrop F-5 fighters - the Turkish Stars are therefore one of the few display teams to use supersonic aircraft.
