ABOUT: Filmmaker Alex Moratto is a dual U.S.-Brazil citizen raised between California, New York, and São Paulo. His short film “The Parting” (2012) premiered at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art and screened at the RiverRun Film Festival. He was awarded both the Fast Track Fellowship (2014) and the Directing Lab Fellowship (2013) from Film Independent and the NC Arts Council Artist Fellowship (2011-2012). He studied Filmmaking at the UNC School of the Arts where he was a Kenan Excellence Full Scholarship recipient. His student short film “The Other Side” (2010) won a Director’s Guild of America Jury Award and was the closing film at Werner Herzog’s Rogue Film School Seminar (2010).
