The norwegian adventurer Helge Hjelland wants to paddle down the Euphrates River with peaceful intentions.
The peaceful journey is the third expedition of Helge Hjelland, that will hopefully be made into a documentary. This time he will travel the 2800 km long river Euphrates, which begins in the Kurdish areas of Turkey, flows through Syria and Iraq, where it joins the Tigris and flows into the Arabian Gulf as the Shatt al-Arab.
Here Tor Heyerdahl began his Tigris expedition in 1977, which ended in Djibuti, surrounded by war on all sides. Heyerdahl and his accomplices decided to burn the Tigris as an anti-war protest.
This protest, we will honor in a time when the region is once again in war, by letting the adventurer Helge Hjelland meet fellow humans along the river banks of Euphrates River.
