  2. On Sunday, September 29, 2013, SpaceX successfully completed the demonstration mission of its upgraded Falcon 9 rocket, delivering the CASSIOPE, CUSat, DANDE and POPACS satellites to their targeted orbits. Falcon 9 lifted off with nine Merlin 1D engines, generating 1.3 million pounds of thrust at liftoff and increasing to 1.5 million pounds of thrust as it approached the vacuum of space.

This was the first Falcon 9 launch using SpaceX’s new 17 foot diameter fairing, and the first demonstration of a number of technologies on the upgraded vehicle. Following separation of the last payload, SpaceX also attempted an internal milestone of relighting the second stage.

  5. Exploring the limits of resolution and dynamic range when using the F55 in 4K RAW mode, this film was shot on location at the historic Mt. Wilson Observatory. A handmade structure of the highest grade worn by a hundred years of service, the Observatory presents a wide variety of very high detail backdrops, contrasted by a model for skin tone reference. Hard sunlight provides a very high contrast image which also tests the ability of the camera to capture wide dynamic range images, while also showing what happens when that dynamic range is exceeded. A filmic highlight roll off is possible when images are captured in 16-bit precision. Please try to see a screening of this film in 4K if possible, the compressed web version can only capture so much.
