Join Director/DP Ruben Carrillo & Band Pro's Randy Wedick on their quest to capture the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands, using the new Sony F65 & Leica Summilux-C lenses. This episode covers the islands of Oahu & Kauai, where the pair filmed Waikiki Beach, the Na Pali coastline and other landmarks.

This production was designed as both a camera test and a workflow test. In addition to testing dynamic range, color fidelity and the camera's performance in extreme environments, the filmmakers also traveled very light and by necessity whittled the workflow down to it's bare essentials.

Band Pro will be presenting the finished film in 4K in their booth at NAB (C10308). Sony will also be projecting the film in their 4K theater.

This episode focuses on the human angle of one of the proprietors involved in the shoot. Jack Thompson's suburban dream home was cut off from the outside world by an active lava flow on either side of his house. During the shoot, the flow began to creep up directly behind the house for the first time. On the plus side this allowed the crew to walk to the active flow in just a few minutes from Jack's front door. The down side is obvious, and the final conclusion is shown in this piece. During the after-action report in Honolulu, Ruben & Randy are interviewed and have both been awake for the better part of a week, with very minimal sleep, and they do their best to wrap up the results of the shoot.

All shooting and post production for both the Night and Day material took place in less than 24 hours in Berlin, Germany.

Rainer Hercher, Managing Director of Band Pro Munich, was the cameraman for the shoot. Post production was performed at CinePostproduction in Berlin. Minimal color correction was applied using Colorfront's On-Set Dailies.
