It's the day before the Big Gig, and I just got a chance to rehearse the big finish with my brother, who's going to be guesting on percussion and backing vocals. I love singing with Spence – we've been doing it for years, and it's so easy. ;)

I've had this song kicking around in various states since before Christmas, but since today felt like the first day of summer I decided to finish it off. I'll be playing it for the first time at Ben's Big Gig next Friday! ;)

We went to the Premises, a swanky rehearsal studio in Hackney, and sorted out the last few tunes for Ben's Big Gig. The Cutest Fish In The Sea is an old favourite that I had never played with the band. I'll probably take it on piano so I can show off some rock'n'roll piano manoeuvres, but this was a good start. Highlights include Oli's big band drumming and the look of pure joy on Mr Summers' face when he gets to sing "Bop-a-do-dop, a-bop-a-do-day"…

I'm putting on a Big Gig in Oxford on May 1st 2009, and I'm seeing how far I can push the limits of social media and internet communication by publishing all the preparation and planning, and crowdsourcing songs, press releases, videos and ideas.
