For the past few months I've been busy recording several hours worth of various nature scenery for a short nature film that I'm working on. As I was working on that project I came across this Great Blue Heron at my local park and decided to piece together a quick 1 minute edit of just him/her. Filmed with a Canon HV30. 24p. Background sound of ocean waves recorded with Zoom H4n.

This is one of the best looking of all North American woodpeckers. It's also one of the most unusual, in that it has very broad wings that allows it to foray out from high perches and catch flying insects out of the air. Two scenes, first showing it working to remove the stinger and venom sac from a wasp it caught, finally succeeding and eating it. Second scene is showing it perched high on a dead pine tree looking around for its next meal. November…
Opening scene is an adult male feeding on ripe elderberries, followed by another scene of an adult female also feeding on these berries. July 2009, Ventura, California, USA.
An adult perched in a weed patch looking around, and at one point reaching down to pluck a small insect. This species is not only one of the nicest looking sparrows, but also one with a lot of personality. Ventura, California, USA.
