With Twilight: Breaking Dawn just released, I thought it would be an appropriate time to release our latest short film. What are the similarities between the two? First, you'll see a hipster grunge styling similar to some of the wardrobes and hair seen in the movie (with influences of Johnny Depp and Marc Anthony). There is a dream-like feel to this piece, with subthemes of forbidden or unreachable love, and some mysticism and symbolism.
Also, we had the pleasure of working with one of the original Twilight movie actors. Solomon Trimble (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2952605/) plays Sam Uley, Jacob's right hand man, in the first film (before some of the teenagers start shape-shifting as a result of the Cullens ongoing presence in the 2nd movie). The beautiful Carmen graced us with her presence as well. Solomon and Carmen are a real-life couple.
Together Again has been a dream project of mine for over a year, and I am so happy that it can come to fruition near the release of a similarly inspired…
Siyu and Kelong called me just two weeks before their wedding, asking if I had availability on December 20th. As it turned out, I had plans to drive to Colorado to see family on the 22nd, so we both lucked out! I'm so grateful I had availability for them as they were just the nicest couple who had a quiet, special love between them (which you can see quite a lot of on the film!)
The couples' families were for the most part unable to attend. The bride's father was working in Boston and the groom's parents reside in China and were unable to come. The bride's mother however was able to make a special appearance and to represent the families and the elders from China to the couple.
The ceremony was small and intimate, consisting of fellow classmates, friends, and professors from George Fox and OSU. The bride's gown was a gorgeous Vera Wang with a blush pink sash. It was love at first sight for me, the filmmaker!
It didn't take much to talk these two into a first look, and I"m so glad we…
I first met Samantha over panko-crusted meatballs at Departure Lounge inside The Nines hotel in downtown Portland. She and I were attending an informal networking event there hosted by Luxe Event Productions: I as owner of Black Label, and she as assistant editor of Oregon Bride magazine.
Samantha told me the tale of how she had had such high hopes for a wedding day film, and had looked at modern films in other metro areas that other couples had done. She had not been able to find someone in the Portland area whose work she was happy with, and had made the decision not to hire a cinematographer, rather than spend money on something she felt she would be unhappy with. Samantha was the type of bride who valued a wedding film immensely; in fact she told me it was one of the top priorities of her day. But she had a vision of a very modern and creative film, and she just couldn't afford to fly someone in. So, she had given up on her dream.
I am so glad that I met Samantha that evening as we…
We were lucky enough to have 100% TALENTED vendors and connections to bring together this fun, creative and mystical short film based in the Pacific NW!
The idea came upon me one day as I was driving through some forested areas near Portland. Many brides in the Pacific NW are very into the outdoors, and due to the forested similarities between films like Lord of the Rings and Twilight, many couples here are into fantasy and other whimsy as well. So I got to thinking about fairy, elvish, and wood nymphed themed weddings and came up with this shoot idea combining those themes with a good dose of some magic and dreams. When planning an inspirational shoot for film, there must be more than just pretty shots, you have to have some kind of storyline so the movement makes sense! So the idea came about that there would be this girl, this fairy or wood nymph, and she would be wandering through the woods in her very natural state, and all of a sudden she would come upon this magical dress hanging…
Just think about it… What if you were trapped under something heavy and the mouse was out of your reach? Scary, right? That's exactly why we have these keyboard shortcuts so you can still use Vimeo until the help arrives.
