1. Cardiff University's Dr Alan Lane discusses in more detail the Llangors Crannog that he talks about on BBC Wales' Story of Wales programme.

    Crannogs were man made islands in lakes created for defensive purposes. The Llangors Crannog is the only one discovered outside of Scotland and Ireland. Thanks to tree ring dating the creation of the crannog can be dated very precisely to 889-893 AD.
