A never again equalled, massive display of U.S. Army might for a Presidential review took place on June 25, 1963, at Hanau Army Airfield, Germany. On this occasion President John F. Kennedy spoke before troops of the 3rd Armored Division, with a backdrop that included Spearhead's M60 tanks, self-propelled artillery, APC's, and tactical nuclear weapons. Also present at the event were military personnel from various NATO support contingents, plus military families and German guests. This was the day before Kennedy's famous "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech in Berlin. The helmeted officer shown beside Kennedy in the limousine (including the still frame) is Maj. Gen. John R.
