1. Lucía Sanromán is an independent curator and writer. From 2006 to 2011, she served as Associate Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. Her current focus lies in investigating aesthetics in relation to efficacy and public practice. Recent projects include "Proyecto Coyote" for Encuentro Internacional de Medellin 2011 (MDE11), and "Anomalia" for the University Art Gallery at UC San Diego (2012). She was a lecturer in the contemporary art symposium "SITAC: estar-los-unos-con-los-otros" in 2014. Sanromán has been awarded the 2012 Warhol Foundation Curatorial Fellowship for Citizen Culture: Art and Architecture Shape Policy, an exhibition and research project organized by the Santa Monica Museum of Art for September 2014. She will co-curate, with Candice Hopkins, the next edition of SITE Santa Fe’s signature "Biennial SITElines.2014: Unsettled Landscapes."

    Cornish College of the Arts and the Henry Art Gallery have formed a new partnership to present INCITE•INSIGHT, a series of public lectures and performances that promote engagement with contemporary art practice. Invited artists, curators, and thinkers will visit Seattle for short residencies to interact with students through group conversation and studio visits. The series emphasizes and advances the long-standing commitment that Cornish and the Henry share in support of meaningful dialogues around the social and cultural impact of art and the ideas of our time.

  2. Harriet "Harry" Dodge launched INCITE•INSIGHT, a new partnership between Cornish College of the Arts and the Henry Art Gallery on Friday, September 27, 2013. The entire lecture is available in this video.

    Harriet “Harry” Dodge is a visual artist born in San Francisco, California in 1966, who now lives and works in Los Angeles. Dodge’s solo work—which includes video, sculpture and drawing—as well as collaborative video work has been exhibited widely, including The 2008 Whitney Biennial, NY; Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, CT; The Getty Center, LA; Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius, Lithuania; Hammer Museum, LA; Kunstalle Bonn, Bonn, Germany; Brooklyn Museum of Art, NY; Hessel Museum, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY; PS 1, Long Island City. Dodge’s collaborative video work is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In the early ’90s Dodge was one of the founders of the now-legendary San Francisco community-based performance space, The Bearded Lady, which served as a gathering point for a pioneering, polysexual, queer literary and arts scene.

Cornish is a four-year college offering a Bachelor of Music degree and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in art, dance, design, music, performance production and theater. We encourage students to exchange ideas, experiment and find their unique artistic voices and share them with us in ways both innovative and traditional.

We are a small college with 800 students in degree programs and another 150 in preparatory classes. We are accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
Mission Statement

The mission of Cornish College of the Arts is to provide students aspiring to become practicing artists with an educational program of the highest possible quality, in an environment that nurtures creativity and intellectual curiosity, while preparing them to contribute to society as artists, citizens, and innovators.

Cornish realizes this mission by offering baccalaureate studies in the performing and visual arts and by serving as a focal point in the community for public presentation, artistic criticism, participation and discussion of the arts.
