D.I.G.I.T. is a digital mirror that draws a segmented camera feed through seven-segment displays. It channels the long-standing tradition of rendering graphics within the constraints of simple computing paradigms, exemplified best by techniques such as ASCII and typewriter art.

A 60 device multi-user, multi-screen interactive experience designed to showcase Google's new Chromebook Pixel laptop. The display plays back a synchronized panoramic video across all the devices and allows visitors to draw musical gestures that travel around the ring. I developed the software to synchronize video playback and the software for the interactive music gesture mode. The installation was displayed at various Google organized events such as Google I/O 2013.
During the London 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, sponsor Coca-Cola presented the ‘Beatbox’ pavilion in the middle of the Olympic Park. The arena combined architectural design and sound technology to produce an “artwork” where guests could walk in and create music. 230 red and white translucent synthetic cushions – 40 of them sound-emitting and touch-sensitive – were developed to make up the interactive façade of the pavilion. Through sound, vibration and LED light activation, visitors experienced the immediate tonal, tactile and visual feedback.
iart interactive ag developed this “musical instrument“ from proof of concept to solution in close collaboration with the architects, the sound designers and the general contractor Nüssli. The task included the design of the loudspeakers, the development of sensors sensitive to distance, velocity and touch, the implementation of an IT based control system, the lighting design, the design of the interactive cushions as well as the system development.
We're excited to share this video of our recent 1000 actuator test which forms one-tenth of the full colour kinetic building facade designed by Asif Khan and incorporated into his pavilion for the Russian telecom operator MegaFon at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. The building facade is being developed and realised by the Swiss company iart. It is a lit, moving sculpture which will be able to change shape and display physical portraits of visitors of the Olympic Park and sports fans from all over Russia (opening 7 February 2014).
