A customer recently inquired about shared storage. They had dozens of external Firewire Hard drives floating around the facility. Workers were actually waiting for drives to edit! Our research led us to the Maxx Digital Final Share SAN (Storage Area Network) solution. Created and tweaked to perfection by Sir Bob Zelin. http://twitter.com/nicebobzelin
Consisting of a fast 8 bay RAID array attached to a MacPro, this combo feeds data at over a whopping 900MB/sec! Once the MacPro is connected via Fiber to a 10gig Ethernet switch, individual workstations can then connect in and playback 2-3 streams of ProRes 422 footage! Imagine an logger ingesting footage, an editor rough cutting, another editor fine tuning, a colorist grading and a motion graphics expert working on VFX - all on the same drives! It's a reality with the Final Share system - call DVeStore for yours today! 1-877-353-8077 http://www.dvestore.com/final-share-shared-storage-for-final-cut-pro/
A quick jaunt into the back country allows us to hear the superb sound of the RODE Videomic Pro. We were shocked to hear the level of detail at 4,6, even 8 feet away. Listen to the crunching of the snow and the clothing rustle. Very clean. Of course getting the mic close to the subject is going to give you even better sound - we chose this example to demonstrate what kind of sound you would get in an ENG or documentary type scenario.
We're shooting with the Canon 5D Mark II. The 24-70mm 2.8 lens is being utilized with a Genus ND fader. The audio is manually set three ticks from the bottom and the VideoMic Pro is set at the +20dB setting.
The RODE VideoMic Pro is now officially shipping http://www.dvestore.com/products/RODE-Videomic-Pro.html
The new RODE lavalier solves problems. First, the variety of changeable Micon connections allow you to easily switch from XLR to 1/8" mini or on over to Shure, Sennheiser, Sony, and Audio-Technica wireless systems. As if that were not enough, secondly, you receive free wind protection with the mini-furry. Third, the 5 year warranty is unheard of in the industry and 4th the water proof "anti-trauma" case makes transporting your lav organized and safely protected.
In creating this video we plug into a Zoom H1 handy recorder and feed the audio in a Canon 5D Mark II. We're shooting with the Canon 50mm F1.4 lens on all of the front shots and all the close-ups/macro shots we're using the 100mm F2.8 (non-IS). Want to learn more? Here we jump in the studio while we have a Tascam HS-P82 8 track recorder on loan (thanks Tascam!). What a great opportunity to test out 8 unique mics at the same time! We've been curious as to how some of the expensive and not so expensive mics would do with a real world, common problem: a loud, noisy device that we can't control. Critically listen to how the mics faired....

Just think about it… What if you were trapped under something heavy and the mouse was out of your reach? Scary, right? That's exactly why we have these keyboard shortcuts so you can still use Vimeo until the help arrives.
