Our academics and their research

Professor Shahzad Uddin, from our Essex Business School, grew up in Bangladesh at a time of social and political struggle. This upbringing made him consider the idea that poverty can be brought about by global politics.
His research, at Essex, now looks to question global politics and the World Bank agenda in emerging economies. He argues that assumptions made by multilateral agencies, who state that private ownership is more beneficial than public ownership, are flawed as they have not taken local context into consideration.

Professor Uddin's future research will investigate the immunity of the World Bank. If you are interested in studying with our Essex Business School go to: essex.ac.uk/ebs
