Testing out *all* the LED walls for Excellent Adventure's booths. Coming soon: warm white and UV LEDs in the overhead compartment, and don't forget **LASERS** Oo! LED panels are currently shown "naked" but will get frosted diffusers tomorrow (the glue is drying overnight).
Believe it or not all that light is only drawing about 35 watts of power, including the overhead for control electronics -- that's 35 watts for BOTH booths! Even with the booths on "full blast" they only consume about 60W each.

If it looks ridiculous on video, it's a tiny fraction of how if feels in first-hand. Burning Man offers a strange sort of blank slate on which only the weirdest creatures seem to survive. We were thrilled to further the cause a bit with our art, and help our fellow weirdos connect to each other.

In Oakland, it is customary to make sure that all audioreactive art installations are enjoyable both to humans and cats. We're equal opportunity like that.
Here is a video of Delia the cat testing out the LED walls for Excellent Adventure, which will be installed at Burning Man 2010. LED panels are currently shown "naked" but will get frosted diffusers in the next few days.

For the tech-minded, each LED panel is a series array of "superflux" 8000mcd R/G/B LEDs from Jeled. A single ATTINY85 running open source "CYZ_RGB" firmware controls each color channel. For the final layout, each panel will be split into multiple zones, each controlled by an ATTINY, and uniquely addressable on an I2C bus. The design is entirely open under the Creative Commons (CC-BY) license.…
Just your average point-to-point audio-reactive phone booth network, introducing abstract privacy concerns. :D

Through the clever use of LEDs and extruded aluminum, we have made a machine which turns strangers into friends. Who knew?

Just think about it… What if you were trapped under something heavy and the mouse was out of your reach? Scary, right? That's exactly why we have these keyboard shortcuts so you can still use Vimeo until the help arrives.
