1. F.A.T. GOLD: Five Years of Free Art & Technology
    Curated by Lindsay Howard
    April 1–20, 2013

"The free software and arts communities are filled with people motivated not just by money but by the act of creation and a drive to make meaningful, or at least functional, contributions to society," writes F.A.T. Lab co-founder Evan Roth in his recent essay, Artist Hacker: From Free Software to Fine Art. Inspired by the philosophy put forth by Roth, Eyebeam hosted a panel on Thursday April 4 from 7:00pm–8:30pm called "Artists as Hackers". The discussion brought together Roth and F.A.T. Fellows Aram Bartholl, Tobias Leingruber, James Powderly, and Addie Wagenknecht, moderated by Christiane Paul, for a look at how hacker culture has influenced a new generation of artists.

  2. What if p2p culture was equal. What if these sites had been designed to for girls? The goal of GIRLS vs _root is to present an experience on websites typically dominated by male contributors. Currently the add-on works by replacing every username on sites such as github.com with a female username (example: Sarah212) and female avatar. Additionally, Pirate Bay becomes 'Princess Bay" and the typical breast laden-porn ads while searching are replaced ads for 'David Beckham for H&M'. To contribute code visit: github.com/wheresaddie

The Clip - Stormy Day - KCIDY

Stormy Day is about a stormy day in a dream, in which this natural element is two characters that the narrator will meets eventually.

First there was a woman, powerful and majestic symbol of the slow and serious aspect of the storm. Her presence is both reassuring and cumbersome. It requires respect and actions, filled symbols have an influence on the narrator.

Then there is a child, energetic and stealth representing electrical aspects and snapshot of the storm. It is complementary to the woman but his actions seem less thoughtful.

The narrator moves between different locations like in a dream where scenes follow the abstract. She seems comfortable in all this, and a certain harmony reign.

The clip is both soft and powerful, hot like a stormy day, and cold in a flash.

The focus is on the symbolic aspect of the dream but there’s not any reference to magic. The characters are not priestesses or magicians but just symbolic personifications of what the storm is for authors.

    * The studio scenes were filmed at The Factory studio (Pole pixel, Villeurbanne), Rhone.
    * The scenes were shot on location in the Rhone Alpes and Auvergne.

To make this video, we first did a project on crowdfunding Ulule then we then received support from film school The Factory, and Wemotion studio which has become the main producer of the clip.

Antonin Hako (member of the duo THTF) created the sets, costumes and imagined all the graphic clip.

    ENJOY !
