FilmCAN has evolved into an exciting film competition that invites budding young filmmakers from local middle and high schools to make a short film on a subject of their choice. There are two categories, one for middle schools and one for high schools. The winner of each category will win a great prize and the winning films in each category will also be screened at Empire Theatres Capitol 6 alongside a Victoria Film Festival feature film!
Our aim is to educate and expose students to filmmaking and encourage, motivated student to create a great film. To assist this endeavor, students will have access to a professional filmmaker as a resource to offer suggestions, feedback or even facilitate in finding props or locations.
