  3. The goal of this project was to be able to control two Canon DSLRs with one intervalometer (Canon TC-80N3).

I spliced stereo headphone connections into the middle of each shutter release cable, following the Canon E3 pin-out specification (tinyurl.com/cbj7p8), only with the genders reversed (so the genders would be correct for the Y-adapter).
By inserting a standard stereo headphone Y-adapter, I am able to control both cameras simultaneously, using one shutter release.
This also allows me to use standard headphone extension cords to extend the length of the shutter release.
I also discovered that once both shutter release cables were connected from the cameras to each other (vis the Y-adapter), the on-camera shutter controls of one camera would control the other as well.

Want to see how much difference a good windscreen makes to sound quality? Here's a Zoom H4n with no windscreen, the supplied windscreen and a Redhead windscreen. Clearly the redhead screen is far and away the best of the bunch.
No processing to sound other than to fade in the track from a clean source at the end.

Music is "Dangling Threads" by the brilliant Howard Eliott Payne, from the album "Bright light ballads"

Note the use of the most brilliant Gorillapod to hold the Zoom as well - this is wrapped around a balcony on the third floor with a 30ft drop to concrete below - that's how much I trust them!
