This 10 minute clip introduces us to passionate, committed fisher leaders from all over the Caribbean. In their own words, they tell us about the importance of fisherfolk and the necessity of working together.

These are people who get the need for collaboration by government, scientists, NGOs and locals. They get the seriousness of the challenges we face. They have a lot to teach us.

Supporting these fishers is the path forward for successful marine conservation to benefit the fish, the fishers and all of us who depend on the sea for our lives whether we know it or not.

At Sea Level, which is currently in production, is a project of The Ocean Foundation. It will be made available to television stations, nonprofits and educational institutions throughout the Caribbean and the United States to raise awareness and support for fisher led conservation. The film will also be available to fishers, fisherfolk organizations and their supporters.

Many thanks to GCFI, all the fishers who appear in the film and the many other participants and supporters including Will Heyman and his team at Texas A&M University and James Schwartz of Bus 9 Productions.

As Antiguan fisher Dalston Samuels says, "Ignorance is more expensive than knowledge, if you allow ignorance to prevail."

The videos are part of Fisher to Fisher, a social media project that also includes the production of At Sea Level, a documentary film about Caribbean fisherfolk and the future of the sea.

Many of these videos were recorded during the Fishers Summit of the Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute Conference.
