In the melting spring of 2010, a solar-powered film crew followed an international group of engineers to the Mongolian grasslands to document how rural schools can eco-sustainably overcome winter cold.
The situation, especially this past winter, was dire...and expensive. On average, a school burned ~550 tons of wood, consuming budgets before the winter thaw and throwing many of them into debt.
Invited by a former adviser to the President of Mongolia, they trekked towards the border of Siberia in their quest to reduce dependence on wood and dirty burning coal. The groundwork has been laid, and we work now to bring to life:
- 5 pilot projects on insulation, heating systems, and fuel
- a periodic newspaper column on green building techniques
- a training program for green building professionals in partnership with UNDP - BEEP (Building Energy Efficiency Program)
- and a 16min video-case study that serves to summarize important details for busy decision makers, inspire ordinary citizens,…
