Sony NEX-FS100 Super 35mm User Group Channel

A simple comparison between recording 4.2.0 35Mb/s as opposed to 4.2.2 10 bit Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) to a Cinedeck Extreme.

Amazingly the 35MB/s codec stands up much better than you think it would. You should never judge a codec purely by a number. 4.2.2 10 bit is sharper and slightly cleaner but it is very hard to pick the difference.

The night time shots were all shot on +12DB.

Sony are developing their NXCAM and NEX-VG10 successor, to address the complaints, the needs, and the pockets of professionals. Although the NXCAM FS100 will use the same E-mount lens system as the NEX-VG10, its sensor will exceed that APS-C size with a Super 35mm frame, and deliver true native 1080p resolution to prevent aliasing/moiré. Estimated availability is "mid-2011."

Because the functionality and information is limited at Vimeo Channels like this, there's much more to see and do at the associated User Group, nxcamhd.info, and videos added to the Channel should (and hopefully will) also always be added there.

In addition to following the User Group at nxcamhd.info, you can follow updates offsite via the more ubiquitous social networking services of:
