Discover a new kind of film series, one that gives movies life outside the black box. Each SUPERCINEMA screening is a curated event including performances, discussion, food and drink, and other live elements relating to the evening's film. The ultimate goal of the series is to rethink the institution of the cinema.
The debut event is PLEIN SOLEIL (Purple Noon), french director Rene Clement’s nail-biting European version of THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY, with live performances from the original book by Tisch MFA actors, a slideshow on sociopathy, an interpretation of Nino Rota's score by Tisch musicians, and other surprises. Savor Italian cocktails and delicacies on a ride through the mysterious mind of Tom Ripley, Patricia Highmith's infamous anti-hero.
Italian treats are compliments of Tribeca's newest Southern Italian hotspot, Stuzzicheria. Photo ID required to enter. This event is made possible by a Tisch East MicroGrant.

Preview of a short thriller currently in post-production. The film is inspired by the rise and fall of Getty Museum antiquities curator Marion True, who was indicted by the Italian government for conspiracy to traffic in illicit antiquities.
