Handled with a delicacy that defies a read of art-iconoclasm, as the title suggests, these videos enact the interior experience of processing a work of art. Here, the connection sought after is a provoked by longing, desire, and validation, as well as an increasing de-materialization of personal experiences. (2007)

Burn, 2002 (10min. loop transferred from 16mm) Reynold Reynolds and Patrick Jolley www.reynold-reynolds.com https://www.facebook.com/Artstudio.Reynolds Burn is a stunning evocation of those unspoken, those secrets, worries and lies, forming a force which is always a part of the fabric of everyday interactions; at first niggling at the edges, then - provoked by a word or a gesture - suddenly searing through everything and everyone in its path. A proverb tells us that the grass is always greener on the other side. But one of the main experiences of traveling nowadays is that places are becoming more and more the same - less individual, less culturally marked, more accessible, more commodified.

In early 2011, Clemens Wilhelm traveled to Chongqing (China) where he presented the first program of GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE at Organhaus Art Space Chongqing (The program was co-curated by MMX Berlin). In the summer of 2011 he presented the second program at SIM Reykjavik (Association of Icelandic Visual Artists) which combined some of the works from the first screening with works from Chinese video artists. The third festival stop is now at Meneer de Wit, Amsterdam, on January 14th 2012.

The GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE vimeo channel showcases only some of the work of the artists which were presented in these first two screenings.

Hopefully, GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE will soon be held at a venue near you.

GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE is non-profit and artist-run.
