Welcome to the channel and i hope you enjoy the sounds that helped establish Northern Irelands clubs and Kellys in Portrush in particular, as a top venue for the cream of the worlds deejays and producers to come spin and play their tunes in the 90's....When a young X-Ray met Paul & Hector (aka Freeze & The Rhythm King), when they walked into his record shop called Fresh Underground Records in Coleraine back in the early nineties, an integral partnership was formed to bring the Euro influenced sounds to the mass of welcoming ears of the Northern Irish Massive. The Italo piano dance style of Harmonies past was beginning to fade out and a harder edged style of production was sweeping through Europe with a faster beat and more use of the Roland TB-303.With it, the way was paved for DJ Sci & DJ Binman to come onboard the following summer in '93 and the rest is history as they say .The first nights Intelligence put on were in Marshalls in Sion Mills in '93, after that they moved on to Hennessy's nightclub in the maiden city and then onto the Longfield Inn in Eglington before taking over the club nights in Kellys through the peak of the hard trance scene until Kellys closed for good and revamped as Lush in '97...Before long X-Ray & Sci had released their first tapes under the Intelligence banner in April '94 and it would be the start of a period in Irish club history that is still fondly recalled as folklore to this day...Other deejays came onboard such as James Brolly in mid '94, DJ Joanne, and later again, Scotland's very own Paddy Frazer & DJ Tizer who had his own fan base well and truly established with his own tape releases prior to linking up with Intelligence. The era i'll be concentrating on is from '93-'97 as this was the era i grew up in..I'll be posting my extensive collection of the records that made the mid nineties such a special time for the Northern Irish club scene.. Primarily i'll be posting more hard trance than anything else but i have quite a few Harmony, hardcore and bouncier techno records also to put up so stay tuned and enjoy !!
