Today we tackle 216 Miles from Savannah to Covington, GA in the indomitable JCB 3CX backhoe. The machine performed well the first day on the road. Join us each day through April 20 as the JCB 3CX backhoe makes its way from coast to coast as we help raise money and awareness for the devastated island nation of Haiti. Help by donating at www.JCBforHaiti.com.
From Covington to Carrollton, Georgia, by way of Atlanta JCB in Kennesaw, Day 2 was a slightly more relaxed pace due to the dealer event right in the middle of the day. Atlanta JCB put on a great event, with catering by Tilted Kilt and an appeal to the crowd for their support in the effort to raise money for the relief effort in Haiti. From Carrollton, GA to Montgomery, AL, just over 132 miles. The day started out cold enough to see your breath, but ended up warm enough to go without a jacket. There's nothing like springtime in the South land to get you feeling like Summer could be just around the corner. We happened by a friendly farmer operating his old JCB, still as happy with it today as he was when he picked it up a few years ago.
Editor's Note: there will be no video…
Just a short distance from the hotel to Southland Machinery in Montgomery, Alabama today. The family-friendly event gave the kids a chance to play with the "big toys," and the backhoe rodeo competition winners generously donated their winnings to the cause. The backhoe got a pit stop treatment and the length of the trip really started to sink in. We're back on the road Monday when we head to Mobile.
Sammy Stephens - of YouTube "mini mall" fame lends his support to the www.JCBforHaiti.com cause. Such a great sport, he made this up for us on the spot!
Montgomery to Mobile with a crystal clear sky. We are enjoying one of the best stretches of weather we could hope to see. The small towns of southern Alabama gave way to the Mobile Bay, which is crossed a lot faster the second time around in fast-motion video. Can you squeeze a 3CX backhoe through the tunnel in Mobile? You bet.
The day started out "interestingly" when the backhoe made an unscheduled stop right out of the gate in Mobile. It was another beautiful Spring day, and the benefit of a police escort from the Louisiana State troopers was much appreciated. Baton Rouge and the LSU campus are in full bloom with azaleas. This will be the last time we see three states in a single day as the great expanses of the western states lay ahead.

Just think about it… What if you were trapped under something heavy and the mouse was out of your reach? Scary, right? That's exactly why we have these keyboard shortcuts so you can still use Vimeo until the help arrives.
