This is the second of three episodes of THE LAST WEEKEND, a serial that I directed in 2012 for Carnival/ITV, adapting the novel by Blake Morrison. The screenplay was by Mick Ford, the producer was Christopher Hall, the executive producer was Sally Woodward-Gentle, the DoP was Adam Suschitzsky, the production designer was David Roger and the composer was Rob Lane. This is the second of three episodes of THE LAST WEEKEND, a serial that I directed in 2012 for Carnival/ITV, adapting the novel by Blake Morrison. The drama stars Rupert Penry-Jones, Shaun Evans, Genevieve O'Reilly, Claire Keelan and Alexander Karim. The third and final episode was broadcasted on ITV1 and ITV1HD, at 9pm on Sunday 2nd September.

Jon East is a BAFTA winning British television drama and film director, who has also produced and executive produced several award-winning programmes. Jon started work in the industry as a film editor and has also worked as the Chief Storyline Writer on the BBC's EASTENDERS and as a storyboard and concept artist for TV, music promos and commercials. Between 2005 and 2008 he ran the BBC Children's Drama and Animation Department.

Jon East is a BAFTA winning British television drama and film director, who has also produced and executive produced several award-winning programmes. Jon started work in the industry as a film editor and has also worked as the Chief Storyline Writer on the BBC's EASTENDERS and as a storyboard and concept artist for TV, music promos and commercials. Between 2005 and 2008 he ran the BBC Children's Drama and Animation Department.

For direction, he has been BAFTA nominated twice and won the award for single film THAT SUMMER DAY - which controversially tackled the July 05 London bombings. He was also nominated at the Venice Biennale for the SILVER LION, with his 35mm short about Wilhelm Reich, IT CAN BE DONE. In 2011 Jon storylined series 2 of THE SPARTICLE MYSTERY with writer Alison Hume and directed the series finale of WHITECHAPEL III. In 2012 Jon directed a three part adaptation for Carnival/ITV of Blake Morrison's novel THE LAST WEEKEND and co-executive produced series 2 of THE SPARTICLE MYSTERY for Sparticles Productions/BBC. In addition he directed the closing four episodes of the series. In 2013 Jon is directing four of the six episodes of WHITECHAPEL IV and the Christmas Special episode of DOWNTON ABBEY, both for Carnival/ITV.
