Hi, I'm Julian Glover! I'm a multimedia journalist finishing up my last semester at the University of Miami, studying broadcast journalism and political science. I graduate in May 2013.
I believe I have the motivation and the drive to excel in your TV news room. I am a strong storyteller that is passionate about finding stories that will impact the local community. I thrive on breaking news and the rush of being the first at a scene. I am able to shoot, edit, and produce my own stories using the latest editing software, newsroom system interfaces, and ENG cameras.
I’m a self-admitted political junkie, news fiend, and lover of social media and technology. I am passionate about reporting for both TV and the web, story telling, and getting it right. During campaign 2012 I covered several presidential candidate visits to south Florida and interviewed Mr. Herman Cain one on one. When working on a story I enjoy using social media to get the viewer involved and draw more eyeballs to my reporting.
I have produced several enterprise investigative stories that directly impact the South Florida community. I have exposed a new ring of online ticket fraud, revealed how the Florida State Lottery sales funnel to education funding, and uncovered the toxic dangers of the multimillion-dollar Port of Miami Tunnel construction project. I was named a finalist for the National Broadcasting Society’s “Best Video News Segment” award for my reporting of the Port of Miami Tunnel project.
In October of 2012 I joined the CBS Miami team as an associate producer. I helped produce the weekend 6pm, 7pm, and 11pm newscasts. I produced breaking news, wrote the newscasts under extreme deadline pressure, stacked the show, and coordinated reporters. I grew tremendously in the newsroom as a result and have added producing into my schema of skillsets that postures me to be a better multimedia journalist in today’s ever-changing industry.
I have held internships at CBS News on the National Desk in the summer of 2012 and at the Fox affiliate in my hometown of Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2011.
At the University of Miami I have anchored the flagship nightly newscast on the university’s TV station for nearly two years. Currently, I also lead the newsroom as the station manager, overseeing all editorial decisions, programming, and social media strategy.
I am a focused self-starter with an outgoing personality who has a nose for news. I am eager to use this my skillsets to excel at your station, blending traditional reporting while engaging your audience across multiple platforms. I thrive on breaking news, finding great characters, and telling compelling stories that will engage your viewers. I love working with a dedicated and passionate team. I hope you will find the space to add me to yours.
