"Until The Crickets Guide You Back" (A Series Of Chance Meetings That Resulted In Music)

There's a significantly large part of me that hates Winter for filming these Sessions. It was December in New York City and that night was around the temperature that would make icicles of your wet hair if you went outside. Because of this, there would be no walks in the river, no strolls in parks, no nights on city streets. I would be at the mercy of little store owners or apathetic employees to let me film inside the warm confines of their spaces. It's in this circumstance where that good ol' Vincent Moon philosophy of just walking in, rolling the camera and seeing what happens becomes difficult.

And with so many New York city questions and futures occupying my brain at that moment, I hardly had any energy to bargain with anyone.

But thankfully, Kristina had the inside of an old record store already in mind from the very beginning with the owner being a friend of hers. I flipped through records, legitimately looking for old Peggy Lee music, while I watched her drink beer behind the counter. She strolled back and forth, flipping through Notorious B.I.G. and Lady Gaga posters to see which she prefers to be her background.

She had asked me to film a new song she had just finished working on called "Counting Sheep" and since I didn't have any of her recordings, I gladly accepted. I had met her only once before after Chris Tanner from Vince Dynamic had very wildly showered both of us with each other's praises.

It was a simple night. Kristina's music is another one of those that will transform anywhere into a quiet bedroom with very soft and intimate melodies. I took this awesome little piece of hers, grateful to have something to keep this project going in the midst of this crossroads that I feel I'm on with it.

My name's Kevin and I'm from nowhere in particular without an equally particular last name you might know me as. I'm a documentarian or videographer of sorts and somewhat of a nomad in training. A few years ago, I set out to film live music to support struggling independent musicians. A chance meeting with my favorite director one wintery night in a very crowded Brooklyn screening turned what was really just a run-of-the-mill live session blog on Pollifax.com into a personal adventure to capture not only lovely music, but record the stories and the worlds of the individuals that make them. This channel is to help everyone delve into a pile of our musical collaborations especially if they they don't know where to start! This is for everyone who likes music, likes friendly folks, and just a tad bit of adventure.
