In December 2010, the International Service Human Rights Awards were presented in York for the first time in their eight year history. The achievements of award winners from around the world, and from the Yorkshire region, were celebrated in a ceremony at York Minster. Human rights can seem like a distant issue - only relevant to countries that are impoverished or in the midst of conflict. But every single human being on the planet has rights. Human rights matter here in the UK where they're protected and abused every hour of the day. International Service and Khaoz Media asked the people of York for their views on Human Rights
