  4. Earl Keeler, 91, recalls working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District at Hales Bar Navigation Lock from 1960 to 1967. The retired lock operator visited the decommissioned lock Dec. 19, 2013 and reminisced about the days when he locked through ships and barges delivering commerce up and down the Tennessee River at the site in Jasper, Tenn. Hales Bar Dam began operating in 1913 and was ultimately replaced by Nickajack Dam in 1968.   5. Marion County Mayor John Graham presents a lifetime achievement award on behalf of the Hales Bar Dam Historical Association to Nonie Webb, the historian of the first hydropower dam in the world. The mayor made the presentation during the dam's 100th anniversary celebration Nov. 16, 2013 at the Princess Theater in South Pittsburg, Tenn. Webb is credited with facilitating Hales Bar Dam reunions in the 1980s and collecting treasure troves of photos and historical documents about the dam, which operated on the Tennessee River from Nov. 13, 1913 until 1967 when Nickajack Dam began operating downstream.
