"The Tūhoe Building" is set within the world of the passionately independent iwi Ngāi Tūhoe. In 2013, after 150 years of disappointment, anger and resentment towards the Crown, Tūhoe stand on the brink of a historic settlement deal which will see them reunited with their ancestral homeland, the vast and mountainous forest of Te Urewera. The film explores Tūhoe 's integral relationship to their environment in the wake of their committment to building the first ever "Living Building" in New Zealand.
