This is a little tutorial on how to sync databases using phpmyadmin, CPanel and MAMP.
In this example I'm syncing a database on my development server with one on my local server.
This is a Joomla website database but I suppose it could be used for any database.
No doubt there are other ways. This is how I currently do it and as I was doing it anyway I thought I'd record it for you. You never know you may find it useful...
I, like a lot of developers use a Mac and like most I use a local web server to test the applications I am developing; however, I have had a few issues getting my dev environment running exactly as I want it due to the fact I use MAMP Pro.
While it supports mySQL and PHP out of the box it doesn't lend itself well to other app servers due to the fact it isn't obvious how to configure the default settings.
Hopefully this video will help all of you…
This screencast will go into the specifics of setting up a MySQL database in MAMP and installing a content management system for development locally. Wordpress is used in this demonstration, but these methods will work for any PHP-based CMS like Drupal, Joomla, and more.
This is a newer video walkthrough covering the setup of the Zend Framework (including Zend_Amf). The video was created on a Mac using MAMP, but instructions are also included for Windows/WAMPServer users.
I never found a step by step video tutorial on how to install Joomla, a popular content management system (CMS). I design web pages, but I am not savvy when it comes to coding, servers and the like. So in this tutorial I step you through how to install Joomla. I show how to do a local installation on a Mac computer using MAMP, a free utility you can download from their site. The steps I show are nearly identical for those hosting their websites…
Thanks for the videos - I've viewed two over the past few weeks - one for setting up virtual hosts, and one for integrating Coldfusion with MAMP PRO. I'm looking forward to one on virtual hosts and Coldfusion. Thanks for the help.
Just think about it… What if you were trapped under something heavy and the mouse was out of your reach? Scary, right? That's exactly why we have these keyboard shortcuts so you can still use Vimeo until the help arrives.
