Compressed 03 continues my interest in telling stories through analog visual effects - everything in the film was made with physical materials and tools in my studio. By using frame by frame stop motion and time lapse techniques, fluid dynamics and magnetism are transformed into majestic explosions and seething storms.
Sounds best on headphones, and looks best fullscreen!
Shot with Nikon D90, macro lens & custom built timer / trigger

I find analog things appealing - whether it's vinyl or photographic film, there's a certain richness and magic that's difficult to replicate with digital means. The Compressed series showcases analog visual effect techniques, so everything in the films is made by hand, with physical materials and tools in my studio. For each of the Compressed films I try to develop and master a set of analog techniques with which…

Liquid Skies is the story of an astronaut hurtling across the universe--past suns you and I may never glimpse, yet fighting battles we may all face ourselves one day.
This is my student short film at Art Center College of Design. It is my first big attempt at animating or doing something at this scale and finish. This is part of a broader story that I am working on, following an astronaut across the suns of many galaxies. I hope to share it with the world in the next year.
More information on this is available on my website.
A FULL-CG animated piece that tries to illustrate architecture art across a photographic point of view where main subjects
are already-built spaces. Sometimes in an abstract way. Sometimes surreal.

Okay.... some sequences from our recent TV-movie (89 minutes, prime-time, ZDF / Germany) to show how one can work with a set of different tools within one film and still get results that are, in our view, absolutely acceptable.
Main camera Arri Alexa, combined with inserts from Panasonic AG-AF 101 and a few shots with Panasonic GH2 and Canon 5D. We avoided using the three smaller cameras as real B-cams because this would not have matched. But we found it really thrilling, to send the smaller ones hunting for shots we integrated in the film.
This mix allowed us some things we otherwise could - with our budget - not have afforded to do. We think the result is okay for a prime-time TV-Movie. Clip heavily compressed.
The future is multi-cam.
Just think about it… What if you were trapped under something heavy and the mouse was out of your reach? Scary, right? That's exactly why we have these keyboard shortcuts so you can still use Vimeo until the help arrives.
