I was in Ypsi when the Michigan Design Militia put on it's 1st Shadow Art Fair - it was called that because it takes place immediately after Ann Arbor's massive almost-a-week long art fair (in the shadow of)...
After that, I was always in LA when the SAF was taking place... they have two a year, one in the summer, and one just before x-mas.
I was crazy excited to be around this summer for the Art Fair - so I asked, Mark Maynard, one of the co-founders of MIDMI, if any of the vendors would mind me taping the day.
This is the video I made :P it was just me all day, so I sadly missed a lot of the awesome bands that played in the brewery's backyard... next time I'll have to team up with someone to make sure I cover everything.
I overheard several people during the day saying that this year's SAF was one of the best that they'd been to. I was really happy to be a part of it. It makes me happy to see the SAF still strong and kicking after 5 years.

64 days was the exact length of Pedal's production, the number of days we were out on the road. It feels really exciting to be releasing episodes again, I've been editing and filming the last few nights till 5 in the morning, and although it's been hell on my cold, I've had a blast doing it.
I'm anxious to get started on part 2 - when Amanda and I originally began writing the production related episodes, we were expecting to fit everything into 3 cuts. But that doesn't look to be the case any longer - we're finding we have a lot more to say, and many different layers of the whole experience to cover.
We'd love to hear your feedback - it will help greatly in deciding what questions to answer in what order. Thanks for watching.
Recently I was asked by the wonderful and talented Ruth Marks, the creator and person behind the Ypsilanti based FLY Children's Art Center, to create a video that helped share what FLY is and why it's a unique experience for children.
From the FLY website:
"FLY open studio sessions are an environment where children are self directed artists. Children at FLY practice decision making, problem solving, risk taking and creative synthesis in a safe and supportive environment."
I've been to FLY several times in the last year and it really is an important and inspiring program :)

I don't know about anyone else, but I could watch macro footage of jellyfish all day long... seriously. Something about it that makes me feel tiny and in awe :P
Maybe it's because there's no scale reference in much of this video... and I can easily imagine I'm surrounded by bus-sized translucent jellyfish...
Okay... does anyone know if there is an IMAX movie about jellyfish? Cause if so, I need to go see that.
I took all this when Erica and I went to the Long Beach Aquarium :)

Just think about it… What if you were trapped under something heavy and the mouse was out of your reach? Scary, right? That's exactly why we have these keyboard shortcuts so you can still use Vimeo until the help arrives.
