Operation Atropos explores a particular shift in the role of women in the era of global warfare. In July 2005, multimedia artist Coco Fusco took a course led by former US military interrogators designed for civilians who want to learn techniques for extracting information. She took a group of six women with her and filmed the workshop, which involved an immersive simulation of being prisoners of war: they were ambushed, captured, stripped searched, thrown in the pen and subject to several interrogations. Afterwards, the participants were taught how to inflict on others what had been done to them. Fusco introduced the film and then answered questions from the audience.
