Foliage Shoal
Is a motion studies about swimming and vorticity foliages.
The exploration of the movement is based on different imaginations like a fish shoal and the
idea of dancing foliages in the wind. The Character of the single elements is due to a paper
look.

It's a by-product of some midnight thinking but it came out quite interesting to look at. Sound was generated using sine waves, whose frequencies were controlled by velocities of particles (small subset actually; randomly chosen).
This is the third part of a musical work with Marey's images on movements : a live audio-performance with electronic treaments by purplehood (Paris, juin 2009).

The artist attempts and repeatedly fails to press an air-filled ball deep into the water of a swimming pool at night. The action is like the opposite of that of Atlas straining under the weight of the world. The ball keeps falling upward as the artist continues to work.
