SHADOWING (2011)

Schattenspiele. Damit fängt viel an, in der Kindheit. Irgendwann kommt die Frage
nach Sinnhaftigkeit, Kunst, Existenz. Warum bin ich hier. Was soll das ganze.
Was hinterlasse ich.
Staunen.
Der Schatten…
"RE: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" is a responsive environment seeking to enhance atmosphere in an event venue through the use of spatially-aligned interactive projections, generative atmospheric music and sound effects.
Activity in the physical space (presence and motion of the 'audience') is translated in generative visuals, distorted in time and space. These real-time motion graphics are mixed together live with an animated video-piece of three chapters, providing a basic storyline and base texture. The final projection will be video-mapped to blend in with the physical environment, affecting the mood of the event space over time.
The environment will always be in motion but never random or out of sync with the audience by responding to the activity in the venue. Indirect interaction is the key here: instead of pretending direct input/manipulation conventional to interactive walls and multitouch interfaces, this work reserves a much more casual role for its ‘participants’ - who’s…
Social Soundmachine is an interactive tabletop, on which people can create electronic music together.
It has a multitouch surface with different game pieces, that each have unique sounds or effects. Like beatboxes, strings, filters, melodies and even your own voice!

This demonstration video was made for the Dutch Design Awards finals 2009 to give an overview of the possibilities. It was later presented at the Dutch Design Week and Red Dot Design Museum.
Social Soundmachine is an initiative by experience designer Ramon Schreuder (Lewis & Davis). The live soundtrack in this video features samples by Georgio Schultz, S2pid pros & wolflow.
Just think about it… What if you were trapped under something heavy and the mouse was out of your reach? Scary, right? That's exactly why we have these keyboard shortcuts so you can still use Vimeo until the help arrives.
