Every year at Maltings Academy, the year 8s get the chance to go on a week-long residential trip to Mersea. Here's a video rounding up all of the fun from 2011 - put together by Mr Farrow.
This year, the staff at Maltings Academy treated the students to a very special Christmas present in their end of term honours assemblies. Some students had seen lots of filming happening around the academy but didn't really know what was going on.

Last Christmas, the Maltings Academy 6th form student body told the leadership team that they wanted their assembly to be different. They didn't want the same format that they'd seen from year 7-11.
They asked, the academy listened. Mr White, the head of sixth form, along with 3 students, came up with something different. This was the introduction to the assembly, which helped give it the 'x factor'!
