This Past October, The East Village Community Coalition Put on the Second Annual Kid's Art Bike Parade. Parents and their children poured into the streets of the East Village in a showing of appreciation for alternative modes of transportation, sustainable living and community.

Every year hundreds of people are hit in NYC by cars. Dozens of cyclists and more than an hundred pedestrians are killed by motorists who, in all but very rare instances, are not prosecuted. If New York is to ever be a truly bike and pedestrian friendly city, a new mode shift must be initiated so that those who commit murder with their personal automobiles are held accountable.
