This Past October, The East Village Community Coalition Put on the Second Annual Kid's Art Bike Parade. Parents and their children poured into the streets of the East Village in a showing of appreciation for alternative modes of transportation, sustainable living and community.

During the whole push for the congestion pricing plan here in NYC, there were many groups that were apposed and in support of the plan. Some of the concerns were centered around where the cut off line would be for the congestion pricing zone. Every year hundreds of people are hit in NYC by cars. Dozens of cyclists and more than an hundred pedestrians are killed by motorists who, in all but very rare instances, are not prosecuted. If New York is to ever be a truly bike and pedestrian friendly city, a new mode shift must be initiated so that those who commit murder with their personal automobiles are held accountable.
