Meet Chris Haberman, prolific artist, one of the busiest curators in Portland, Oregon, and co-founder of Portland City Art. Chris' passion and devotion to community has helped many other artists get a chance. Produced for the DIY Documentary class at Northwest Documentary, Summer 2009.

Tie Dying was one of the most favorite things to do as a child. We had tie dye curtains and pillows in our TV room in the basement. Even though my mom was raised old order mennonite, she loved to unleash her flower child tendencies. Today we experiment with the Oktobus club kids. They were born naturals. They went home and thought about making a summer business at the Mission Farmers Market.
The act of drawing sometimes is left to the kid's at preschool, but remember how great it felt? Just to put down some color, make choices just because YOU like it, and spent some quiet time just for you. This project is a nice activity to do with your family some night. Make shapes out of a old cereal box that represent your values and write the words on the back.
Then pick them out of a bowl to trace onto your mandala.
