Founded by Yvon Chouinard and Craig Matthews, 1% has grown to over 1000 members since it's launch in 2002 and has donated nearly $42 million to approved environmental non-profits. 1% for the Planet member and musician Chris Velan is touring the Canada to raise awareness of 1%, and recipient non-profits like the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society and The Big Wild. Sponsored by 1% member Mountain Equipment Co-op, the tour includes stops in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal in April 2010
