Open Source Architecture

As you may know, I’m in the process of writing my thesis dissertation about the Open Source Architecture. In order to complement my research paper I have put together a Wiki web page, which is titled Wiki Architecture. It is grounds to an experiment in collaborative design ultimately geared towards generating a new concept for the USA’s White House.

However, this rant is really about the painting workshop I’m took, called Architecture through Painting. For the three months, I was be working on a 6×6 foot painting, which, as I decided, was to be a reconstructed vision of the Open Source White House. Of course, since my instructor was Tom Dubicanac, I had to include a nude somewhere in the composition, which made it extra challenging.

So, in the end the painting took 34 painting sessions, about 4 to 14 hours each, totaling in about 270 hours of work (Yes, I know I’m slow), and $500 worth of supplies. The professor, however, was eager and satisfied and I am happy to have found myself a new hobbies and passion. I hope to paint more, and maybe try out some other techniques.
