First time using iMovie. Song used: Broken Social Scene's "Shampoo Suicide."

In the spring of 2007, during my final semester of college, I took a photography class. One of the last assignments was to create a cohesive set of photographs with a theme or underlying narrative. Anyway, that's how my project, "...As The Crane Takes Flight", was born (yes, the title is a direct reference to the Ted Leo song). I wanted to portray today's youth through a series of staged and unstaged photography shoots and translate each lifestyle from music I listen to (the songs that primarily inspired me were: Broken Social Scene's "Anthems for a 17-Year-Old Girl," Belle & Sebastian's "Dirty Dream #2," and Smashing Pumpkins' "Thirty-Three"). I took many photos over the course of two months, in Chicago and in rural central Illinois -- all of which are featured in the video. Since my camera took 3 exposures per shot, I realized I could dick around iMovie for a few hours and actually make a small movie.

I used the one-second interval stop motion feature of the camera and slowing down the video gave it the blurry effect that I really liked.
