Michael Schoonover lives in the small town of Beattyville, Ky. with his family in a one-bedroom house. He stopped going to school when he was in 7th grade. At 17, he now revolves his life around his family and skateboarding.

Mr. Bobby Combs, who was diagnosed with lung cancer 13 months before this interview, talks about his his life and love of his wife from his home in Beattyville, Kentucky. Mr. Combs passed away less than three weeks later. Video by Lindsey Aulbach, University of Kentucky

Red Fox, Ky., located in remote Knott County, is a historically black community in the hills of Eastern Kentucky. This narrative video gives a small glimpse into the way of life that makes up this coal-mining town.
