Gordon Parks Elementary School educates 220 urban, at-risk students in Kansas City, MO each year. 95% of these students live at or below the poverty level. Volunteers serve a vital role in the lives of their students. Mentors and volunteers are valuable members of the Gordon Parks community and are given the opportunity to develop nurturing and supportive relationships with students.
