Regis University

Regis University President Father Michael J. Sheeran, S.J., has announced that after nearly two decades he is retiring in the summer of 2012. Among the highlights of his tenure are significant enrollment increases and academic program expansion, a 16-year consecutive ranking as a top school in the West, accolades for community service and character development, and hosting a historic meeting between Pope John Paul II and former President William Clinton on the Regis University campus.

Father Sheeran, who became the 23rd president of Regis University on January 1, 1993, made the official public announcement on May 24 during a live television interview with 7NEWS Anchor Bertha Lynn. Lynn is also a member of the Regis University Board of Trustees.

Father Sheeran had informed the Regis University Board of Trustees of his decision last fall. Since then, the Board has been looking for a Jesuit successor and is close to concluding its search.
